Frequently Asked Questions

Please refer here for any questions you may have! We have spent a lot of time preparing for the weekend and can't wait for you to join us. If you have any questions after reading through the FAQs, refer below for contact information.

What date should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by February 8, 2024.

What is the easiest way to get to and from the wedding venue?

We recommend that you take a ride-sharing service (Uber/Lyft) or taxi, particulary on Friday and Saturday when alcohol will be available if you plan to drink.

There is plenty of parking available if you choose to drive. Please enter at Gate 6 of Fair Park - parking is directly to the right when you enter here.

Am I allowed to bring a guest/plus one?

Please refer to the addressed party on your invitation/save-the-date. Due to space constraints, we've carefully considered the guest count, and the address will include "& Guest" if you have received a guest/plus one.

If you feel that there has been an oversight, please reach out.

Are my children invited?

We love your children, but due to space restrictions we cannot accommodate guests other than those specifically identified on your invitation.

What type of food will be served at your wedding?

We are excited for the food to reflect our favorites as well as the nature of the events.

Indian food will be served at the Sangeet on Friday night as well as after the Hindu ceremony on Sunday morning.

Mexican food will be served at the Reception on Saturday night.

Vegetarian options will be available at all events. Please share any dietary restrictions at the time of your RSVP.

Will there be an open bar?

We will have an open bar on Friday and Saturday evenings.

We ask that you enjoy yourself and know your limits.

Should I bring a gift?

Your presence is a present, however if you would like to bring a gift, please refer to our Registry. We will have a Card Box available during the weekend as well.

What time should I arrive at your wedding ceremonies?

We would appreciate you arriving promptly to all events during the weekend.

For the American and Hindu wedding ceremonies, please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the ceremonies but no earlier than 30 minutes prior, i.e. between 5:00-5:25pm on Saturday night and between 8:30-8:55am on Sunday morning.

What should I wear during the weekend?

We understand that this may be the first Indian wedding you have attended, and the dress code may be confusing. We invite you to wear Indian cultural attire if you would like on Friday evening and Sunday morning.

We encourage you to wear colorful attire all weekend. Above all, we ask that you dress in a way that makes you comfortable.

Sangeet: Indian cultural attire, semi-formal/cocktail

American Ceremony & Reception: Semi-formal/cocktail, Indian cultural attire

Hindu Ceremony & Reception: Indian cultural attire, semi-formal/cocktail

Refer to specific clothing suggestions on the Schedule & Details page.

A note from Lauren for the ladies: if you'd like to wear a saree and don't have experience with them, I'd recommend a pre-draped saree to avoid any stress during the weekend. A lehenga choli, anarkali, or a kurta may be easier to navigate.

What is on the Save the Date?

Our Save the Date has illustrations related to some of the places that have been meaningful during our relationship and some of our favoriate places that we've traveled together.

Starting from the top left and going clockwise:

Atlanta, Lauren's hometown - the view from Clara Meer dock at Piedmont Park. Lauren lived across the street from Piedmont Park for most of the time Lauren & Bhargava did long-distance from Dallas to Atlanta. We spent many days strolling through the park, especially during COVID times and for many festivals held in the park. This view is one of Lauren's favorites in the city.

Australia, one of our favorite travel destinations - We visited Australia in July 2019, one of many trips Lauren booked during busy season each year & also a "Cheap Flight." We visited Sydney, where we saw the famous Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge as pictured on the Save the Date. We also visited Melbourne and Cairns during our trip. We SCUBA dived for the first time at the Great Barrier Reef, and we still talk about what it would be like to live in Australia.

Peru, another favorite travel destination - We visited Peru in September 2022 and went to Lima, Cusco, and Agua Flores, the base of Machu Picchu. Bhargava may have been ready to kill Lauren for half of this trip, and Lauren will definitely admit that the trip was a marathon with lots of early mornings, hiking uphill, and altitude sickness, but seeing Machu Picchu, one of the Rainbow Mountains, and a number of ancient ruins as well as exploring the cities was well worth it.

India, Bhargava's former home & a recent travel destination - Bhargava moved to Hyderabad, India in 2006 and lived there through 2010. When we first started dating, Bhargava visited India shortly after and brought Lauren back a wooden elephant from a market in Hyderabad that he told his dad was for his "accounting tutor." On the Save the Date is the Charminar, a monument in Hyderabad, and a Frankie stand. Bhargava has been talking about Frankies, a street food in Hyderabad, for years, and Lauren tried her first Frankie when we visited in November 2023.

Austin, our former home, where we met, and where we got engaged - Lauren & Bhargava met while attending the University of Texas at Austin in December 2016. We moved away in July 2017 after finishing at UT to Atlanta and Dallas respectfully. We return to Austin at least annually and attend a Longhorns football game and visit friends and family, and we got engaged at Lauren's Aunt & Uncle's house on Lake Austin in May 2023.

Dallas, our current home and location of our wedding - Bhargava and Lauren bought a house in October 2022 and finally closed the distance officially when Lauren moved in November 2022. Pictured on the Save the Date is our home (see our cat Olive in the window) and a few icons from our venue - our wedding will be Texas Discovery Gardens, which is located within Fair Park. The big cowboy, known as 'Big Tex,' and the ferris wheel are at Fair Park, and within our venue, there is a Butterfly House, hence the included butterflies. We're excited for you to explore our city & have included many recommendations on the 'Things to Do in Dallas' page.
